Custom Polo Shirt Printing in London: Embroidery, DTG and Vinyl

Branded polo shirts are the default uniform for customer-facing staff across retail, hospitality, trades and professional services. A well-printed polo looks polished, travels well, and signals professionalism without requiring a formal shirt.

Printing Planet UK produces custom polo shirts from our Putney Heath shop. We supply the garments, apply your branding, and dispatch UK-wide or offer collection from SW15.

Three Ways to Brand a Polo Shirt

Embroidery

Embroidery is the premium option for polo shirts. The logo is stitched directly into the fabric using coloured thread. It does not fade, peel or crack, and it survives frequent commercial washing without degrading.

Best for:

  • Left chest logos on corporate and workwear polos
  • Hotels, hospitality venues and front-of-house teams
  • Senior staff or management uniforms
  • Anywhere the garment needs to hold up through hundreds of washes

Typical placement is left chest, 7cm to 9cm wide. Sleeves and back collar are also common. A digitising fee of £20 applies to new artwork. This is waived on orders over 50 pieces and never charged again on reorders.

Prices start from £2.75 per piece on the decoration only, depending on stitch count. Full details on our embroidery service page.

DTG Printing

DTG (direct to garment) printing works on cotton polo shirts. It suits full-colour, photographic or gradient-heavy designs that would be expensive to embroider due to high stitch counts.

Best for:

  • Polos with complex full-colour brand graphics
  • Event staff shirts where the design changes each year
  • Small runs where setup fees must be kept low
  • Colourful creative brands that want bold prints

Cotton pique (the standard polo fabric) takes DTG ink well. Pre-treatment is applied to the print area before pressing. Results are clean and vibrant on white and pastel fabrics.

From £15 per polo including garment supply. Our DTG printing page has full pricing by quantity.

Vinyl and Heat Transfer

Vinyl is suited to simple logo marks, text-only prints and single-colour designs on any polo fabric including polyester blends. It is the most affordable option for basic branding.

Best for:

  • Trade staff with name and role printed on the back
  • Sponsor logos on sports club polos
  • Simple text logos where embroidery is not required
  • Polyester performance polos that cannot be DTG printed

From £8 per polo for a single-colour chest print.
