Frequently asked questions

Answers to what people usually ask us.

How is heat transfer different from DTF?
They are cousins. Both heat-press a printed film onto a garment. DTF uses thinner, more flexible film. Full-colour heat transfer slightly thicker. In most cases we now recommend DTF as the better option.
What are plastisol transfers?
Plastisol transfers are screen-printed ink on release paper, heat-pressed later. They look and feel like screen prints. Useful for pre-printed stock that sits on paper until applied.
How durable are heat transfer prints?
40 to 50 wash cycles at 30°C with proper care. Similar to DTF durability.
What fabrics does heat transfer work on?
Cotton, polyester, blends, canvas, denim. Not recommended for waterproof coatings or lycra-heavy stretch fabrics.
Can I get pre-printed transfers for later application?
Yes. Useful for event pop-ups or on-demand personalisation. Pre-printed transfers sit on release paper until needed.
Is it same as sublimation?
No. Sublimation converts ink to gas that bonds into polyester fibres. Heat transfer sits on the fabric surface. Sublimation works only on white or light polyester.
