Yes. Printing Planet UK accepts customer-supplied garments for DTG printing, DTF printing, vinyl, embroidery and heat transfer. You are not required to buy garments through us.
That said, there are situations where supplying your own garments creates problems that are worth knowing about before you commit.
When Supplying Your Own Garments Makes Sense
You have a specific garment that matters. Some customers have branded hoodies, vintage pieces, sports kits or uniforms that need a logo added. There is no equivalent available through a supplier, so bringing your own is the only option.
You have already purchased a bulk batch. Wholesale buyers sometimes order blanks from a distributor at a lower price and bring them to a print shop for decoration only.
You need a garment that is not in the shop’s catalogue. We stock a wide range but not every brand and style. If you need a specific product we do not carry, bringing your own is straightforward.
What to Watch Out For
No replacement for damaged garments
When a print shop supplies the garment, they are responsible for replacing it if production goes wrong. A misprinted garment gets replaced at no cost to you.
When you supply the garment, the shop applies a handling fee, and if the garment is damaged during production, the liability depends on the shop’s policy. Ask before you hand over expensive or irreplaceable items.
Fabric compatibility
Not all fabrics work with all print methods. DTG requires a high cotton content, ideally 80 percent or above. DTF works on almost any fabric. Vinyl requires a flat, smooth surface and does not adhere well to heavily textured or technical fabrics.
If you bring a garment and the fabric is not compatible with your chosen print method, the shop may not be able to proceed.
Pre-washed garments only
New garments sometimes carry finishing agents from the factory that affect ink adhesion. Pre-wash any garments you are supplying before bringing them in, especially for DTG printing.
Sizing inconsistency
If you supply garments from multiple batches or multiple brands, size variations between batches can cause placement inconsistencies. The shop will print in the same position on every garment based on the first piece.
Handling Fees
Most print shops charge a small handling fee per garment on customer-supplied items. This covers the additional time for checking, tracking and returning individual pieces compared to bulk stock from a single source.
At Printing Planet UK, handling fees are applied per piece on customer-supplied garments. Ask for the current fee when you enquire.
